Lifecell operator introduced Energy-efficient solutions in the Network

The mobile operator lifecell completed the second phase of testing to improve the energy efficiency of its network. At the end of 2015, the project has updated the software for energy conservation for 109 base stations in Kyiv, Ternopil and Mariupol.

For the second year in a row lifecell operator is implementing a project to introduce energy-saving solutions in its network. The initiative is designed to reduce power consumption of the radio network and in particular, BTS-transmitters using the largest share of electricity. Last year, technicians operator conducted a series of test software for energy efficiency by 88 base stations in Kyiv and 21 stations in Ternopil and Mariupol. Implemented measures resulted in savings of between 8% and 10% of electricity at each site.

Today, the largest part of all operating costs associated with the operation of the plant is the cost of energy supply. Therefore, even a slight reduction in power consumption saves additional resources of the company and at the same time reduces the impact of the company on the environment. Thus, by increasing the energy efficiency of the network in the past year, an average of 9.05 kg of carbon dioxide emissions decreased equipment upgraded base stations in three regions of Ukraine.
