Nokia has demonstrated the use of Drones Based on LTE

At the awards ceremony UAE Good Award for Drones, which was held in Dubai from 4 to 6 February, the Nokia demonstrated the innovative concept of traffic management UAV Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Traffic Management (UTM) , which will help to ensure the safe operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to using LTE technology.

A real-time demonstration took place at the invitation of the Organizing Committee of the UAE Drones for Good Award Prize and personally to His Majesty Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. LTE network at the disposal of the network operators, government agencies and institutions, public safety, secure tools for monitoring and management of the drones.

Drones have been used successfully in many industries, such as healthcare, logistics, agriculture, media and entertainment. The task of careful monitoring of the increasing number of UAV is becoming increasingly important for public authorities and the Office for Aviation. Technology Nokia enables centralized monitoring and control of the UAV through the existing LTE network operator or specialized LTE networks used by public authorities or departments of public security.

Brief Technical Features

Sharing LTE and Mobile Edge Computing platform networking technologies.

The drones are equipped with LTE-modems, the GPS -navigatorami and access modules for the exchange of telemetry data. Computing components for data processing in order to monitor the airspace, route tracking drone and management, transmission of telemetry data and to determine the dynamics of closed areas for the flight.

Wilmette Joachim, head of communications and marketing for customers in the Middle East region and Africa, Nokia, said: "LTE allows you to create innovative services with high bandwidth for the telecommunications industry. With the advanced knowledge and experience in the field of LTE the UTM concept, developed by Nokia for operators and public authorities, ensures the safe operation of drones as an element of the development of "smart cities" in the UAE and around the world. Nokia Such innovations are fully consistent with our ideas about how to use technology to extend human capabilities should be in a networked world. "
