Alliance mobile network coverage policy will ignite investors : Vodafone

Union policy , invested $ 100 million to improve mobile phone coverage areas and rural Australia is a small beginning , according to the Australian Vodafone CEO Bill Morrow , but may ignite the mobile network coverage further invest in government and industry .

Earlier this month, Opposition Leader Tony Abbott and Shadow Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced AU $ 100 million in funding , at least to match the industry, to create between 200 and 250 new towers to improve mobile covering regional and rural Australia .

It comes with Vodafone invested over $ 1 billion overhaul of its 3G network at the beginning of a push to win back the more than 1.5 million customers have abandoned the telecommunications network trouble, as early as 2010 since the peak . In addition to overhaul its network , Vodafone and Optus shared infrastructure to expand its network footprint.

The company had previously called on the government to consider the construction of subsidized mobile tower location , single carrier , it is not economical to do so , and Morrow told ZDNet last week that the union 's proposal is a good move .
"I'm really excited volume itself is nothing but a step is so significant , " he said.
"If they want to see Australia 's prosperity , they must do so , who's way to make sure they open it, other people ."

If on Optus , Telstra and Vodafone are able to access the infrastructure , it will enhance competition , telecom operators will be encouraged to invest in infrastructure , he said.
"You get the choice of consumers , which is all its benefits , and you change the economic model where , let's say , $ 100 million will be the 1000 site , and if everyone involved , you can prove far More than AU $ 1 million more than you can with a single carrier , " Morrow said.

" The very fact that they are considering this way, if we as an industry to get it right , I think you will see more and more government subsidized programs to help stimulate the [ telecommunications ] , to cover more of Australia . "

Morrow said that the political parties now recognize the need to work with industry to improve mobile coverage . Alliance was announced, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said he would have to deal with mobile coverage black spots " to say ," but there is no new Labour government 's policy has not been announced .

Morrow 's predecessor Nigel Dews in 2011 , announced in the National Broadband Network Vodafone (NBN) trial services , and since then , the company has brought some Vodafone's mobile customers living in the area to the NBN service capabilities in the trial. Vodafone has not announced any plans to offer commercial NBN services, Morrow admitted that he would not get excited about the NBN trial until the " rollout begins.
" I believe that our trials are proceeding as planned , but I think for me it is the biggest constraint , we need a high-capacity regional , and now, we can see that the delay , complexity, and its political nature , "he said.
